Once upon a time, there was a little girl called River Tam. River, who was a genius, was trained by the evil Alliance to be a mind-controlled fearsome killing machine. So River’s brother Simon smuggled her into the spaceship Serenity, where they and the crew become good friends (or, at least, learn to tolerate one another). It could all have been a wonderful fairytale, if it weren’t for the Reavers and the Alliances’ darkest secret… Serenity is the 2005 sequel to Joss Whedon’s short-lived science-fiction-western show Firefly, and brings together again the familiar faces from the show and the innovative world of Firefly on a feature-length adventure to conclude the show’s riveting plot.
