Rie Rasmussen (born 14 February 1978 in Copenhagen, Denmark) is a Danish actress, film director, writer, and photographer. She was discovered at the age of fifteen while vacationing in New York. After attending film school as a writer-director, Rasmussen got her big break in the film industry when she acted in Brian De Palma's erotic thriller Femme Fatale, which starred former supermodel Rebecca Romijn. Given the role because some of her life's escapades she'd written as short stories, impressed the director. She wrote and directed two short films, one of which, Thinning the Herd, was officially selected to more than 20 film festivals around the world including the Cannes Film Festival where it was nominated for a Palme d'Or. Its inclusion in Quentin Tarantino's QT fest in Austin was the feather in her cap. She also appears in Luc Besson's Angel-A in the title role.
