Rafe Joseph Spall (born 10 March 1983) is an English actor. He landed an agent after he was spotted in a National Youth Theatre production of Nicholas Nickleby and has since appeared on TV and the stage, and in films and radio productions. He has also worked with the band Arkane. He has appeared in Edgar Wright's Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz as well as appearing in Wright's Grindhouse (2007) segment Don't. Spall appears in a number of forthcoming productions including the screen adaptation of Barrie Keeffe's play Sus, and the Channel 4 comedy series Pete v Life. In 2009 he worked on Roland Emmerich's Anonymous, in which he plays William Shakespeare. Spall was born in East Dulwich, London, England and is the son of actor Timothy Spall. He lives in West Kensington with his wife Elize du Toit, who he married on 14 August 2010.
