Maxwell Caulfield (born Maxwell Newby, 23 November 1959) is an English-born film, stage and television actor best known for his role as Michael Carrington in the musical film Grease 2 (1982). He has over 70 credits across film, stage and TV. In the 2000s he was a cast member in the long running soap opera Emmerdale. Caulfield was born as Maxwell Newby in Duffield, Derbyshire. the elder son of Peter Newby and his wife, Oriole. He has a younger brother, Marcus Maclaine, a musician. The actor's American stepfather, an ex-US Marine reportedly kicked Caulfield out of the house at the age of 17. Caulfield attended the prestigious St. Paul's School, London. He later became a stripper at the Windmill Theatre in London in order to obtain an Equity card enabling him to work in the theatre. and obtained his green card. He supports football club Chelsea FC.
